With formal training at Plumpton Agricultural College, where I achieved an overall distinction and was recognised as Top Practical Student in Metal Smithing, I have built a reputation for excellence in hand-forged ironwork. My work combines traditional techniques with contemporary design, serving clients across Kent and Sussex. I hold a Diploma of Merit from the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths and have completed prestigious commissions for The City of London, including pieces installed in The Houses of Parliament.Collaborating with architects, interior designers, and building contractors, I specialise in creating bespoke architectural ironwork that balances functionality with artistic expression. My forge in Horsmonden provides a space where clients can witness the creation process firsthand, and I offer immersive experience days to share my passion for this ancient craft with others.

What safety equipment is provided?
Full PPE including gloves, aprons and eye protection is supplied. Participants receive comprehensive safety training before starting practical work.

I did a days course at the forge and made a poker a hook and an ornate leaf It was a great unique experience and couldn’t recommend it enough Perfect for a birthday gift or just a fun original day out

A very versatile blacksmith who has worked on some amazing historic restoration projects and beautifully designed moderns fabrications, but is still able to assist with more mundane metal repair jobs. I highly recommend Michael Hart Blacksmith!
