Who We Are
Report
With over thirty years' experience, our framers certainly know how to make the very best of every job. We can create frames from standard mouldings, or make something very special in our own workshop, utilising hand finishing techniques to produce unique effects. Our background is in art and design, and we have earned an enviable reputation over the years for innovative solutions, quality and presentation.
Frames
Report
This describes most of what we do, which is why we got our name! We make bespoke frames out of many materials, wood, plastic and metal, in all shapes, colours and sizes. We select only the finest materials and build them to last. We use conservation quality acid-free mountboard, tape and backing board, meaning that precious artwork is safely displayed in a protected environment.
Display Cases
Report
These range from simple deep frames to internally illuminated trophy cabinets, depending on the nature and dimensions of the artefacts to be displayed. Sometimes we float mount a print within a shallow box frame, giving a three-dimensional effect with interesting shadows. Large or heavy objects can be accommodated within specially deep cases, such as this Kalashnikov AK-47.
Mirrors
Report
Typically, we use English character oak, sometimes dubbed 'catspaw' due to the shape of the knots, and will often incorporate other 'imperfections' such as bark to enhance the look. We machine the planks to optimise the best figuring and burrs, often allowing the outer frame shape to follow the contours of the grain, emphasising the inherent movement of the timber.
Funhouse
Report
A recent and increasingly popular division of our work is making fun distorting mirrors. Typically associated with a fairground or carnival Hall of Mirrors, these provide endless fun for all ages, as the ever changing reflection provides great hilarity. We make these to order, either as wall mounted items, or double sided free standing.
