Padstow Museum

Padstow Museum was established in 1971 by a group of local residents, inspired by retired shipwright Bill Lindsey. As an independently run charity (Reg No 278575), we operate without government subsidies, relying entirely on visitor donations and supporter contributions. Our accreditation with Arts Council England underscores our commitment to preserving and presenting the rich social history of Padstow. The museum is managed by a dedicated team of volunteers, led by Chairman Derek Lindsey, who ensure our exhibits remain accessible and engaging for all visitors. We prioritise family-friendly experiences, offering interactive displays and knowledgeable volunteers to enhance visitor understanding of Padstow's maritime, cultural, and social heritage. Our mission is to welcome diverse audiences, particularly younger generations, while fostering a deeper appreciation of the town's unique history.

The museum's relocation to Station House in recent years has allowed us to modernise our exhibits, incorporating hands-on interactives and audio storytelling to bring Padstow's past to life. Volunteers play a central role in our operations, sharing personal anecdotes and historical insights that enrich the visitor experience. We actively encourage school and group bookings, providing tailored visits that align with educational curricula. Our focus remains on maintaining a small but impactful space that embodies the essence of Padstow, ensuring accessibility for all, including those with disabilities. Through continuous improvement and community collaboration, we strive to be a trusted custodian of local history, offering a warm and informative environment for residents and tourists alike.
