Our two award-winning properties, The Old Bothy and The Old Grainstore, combine historical charm with modern comforts, featuring original oak beams, energy-efficient design, and child-friendly amenities. Owned and managed by the sixth-generation Baird family, we prioritise sustainability through renewable energy systems and conservation practices. Our cottages sleep 4-6 people, with flexible booking options for larger groups. This 4-person holiday cottage combines historical charm with modern comforts. Features include a wood-burning stove, king-size bedroom, twin room, and eco-friendly design. The Old Grainstore

Sleeping 6 guests, this spacious cottage features three bedrooms including an en-suite king-size suite. The property maintains original architectural elements while providing modern amenities. With separate living areas and extensive eco-friendly features, it's perfect for larger families or groups wanting to explore the Lake District from a sustainable base.

Are the cottages suitable for young children?

Yes, we provide travel cots, highchairs, safety gates, and age-appropriate toys. The enclosed play area with slides and football facilities ensures family-friendly stays.

What sustainability features do you offer?

Our cottages feature super wall insulation, LED lighting, 'A' rated appliances, and ecological paints. The farm uses renewable energy from a wind turbine and water borehole.

Can I bring pets to the cottages?

Sorry, we cannot accommodate pets to maintain our high cleanliness standards and due to our working farm environment.

Fantastic holiday, only 30 to 40 minutes drive to some the most beautiful scenery and landscapes in Cumbria,
lakes, mountains and sea,
The cottage was brilliant, comfortable and cosy, decorated to a very high standard and quality finish
Situated on a working farm with lovely hosts Joanne and Martin always to hand if you wanted any help. Highly recommended, brilliant.

We had a fabulous stay in the Old Bothy cottage - it was perfect for a family with young children. My daughters loved the garden and toys, it was in a great location for exploring the north lakes, and the hosts were so friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be coming back here again.

Excellent stay, Joanne was a great host. She made us welcome. It's a lovely barn conversion which is home from home. It's really good for families, it's Nicely located to the North lake District in particular. We will definitely stay again.

Great holiday at Red Hall Farm Holiday Cottages. It really is a home from home with everything you might need for a young family. The kids loved every second. We cant recommend this place enough. Highly recommend visiting doing the gruffalo trial, Dinopark and Threlkeld quarry

Amazing place to stay.
Hosts are really nice.
Dogs are very funny n friendly.
Cottage is cozy n really nice made. In all the whole place is great n would definitely come back.
