Red Wine
Report
Browse our wide selection of red wines sourced from around the world; from old world clarets, Burgundies & Italian reds, to fruit-driven new world delights. We have a range of different formats, from half-bottles to magnums and larger. A real gentle soul this, a subtle leafiness, then a medium weight of plum and cassis, soft but with a definite tannic structure, this is as easy as they come.
Red Bordeaux
Report
Arguably the world's most well-known wine region, and the home of claret. The broad region of Bordeaux took its name from the port city of Bordeaux through which wines would have been exported. There is a lot of Bordeaux and a lot to Bordeaux. It is rather over convenient to lazily divide the region into Left Bank and Right Bank, but we all do it anyway.
Graves & Pessac-Léognan
Report
Whilst most of the attention is lavished on the Haut-Mdoc to the north of Bordeaux city, to its south lies the gravelly soils of the Graves boasting one of the great famous names of the Left Bank - Chteau Haut Brion.
The northern end of the Graves has been separated off into a separate appellation - Pessac-Lognan - and it is here, some nestling among the suburban sprawl of Bordeaux itself, that you will find the Haut Brion family of estates and other estates like Chteau Smith Haut Lafitte.Wines of similar nature to the Haut-Mdoc, with a similar reliance on Cabernet Sauvignon although, because they're not from the Haut-Mdoc, sometimes a shade better value.

Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur
Report
A lot of wine is produced in Bordeaux which falls merely into the catch all category of AoC Bordeaux. This is where to find well-priced everyday drinking wines. The Bordeaux Superieur classification applies to wines of lower yield and slightly higher alcohol content. From a good vintage and always delivering incredible value for money, Eric Duffau's brilliant Chteau Belle Garde is one of our longest standing listings.
Italy
Report
The Ancient Greeks coined the word Oenotria, or "land of vines", to describe Italy and it remains a land intimately entwined with its vines. Indeed much of northern Europe's first vineyards were planted by those all-conquering proto-Italians, the Romans.
It is rather tempting to regard Italian red wines as a single category of wine but, with the country extending from the Alps in the north to the latitudes akin to Northern Africa in the south, there is considerable variation in grape varieties and finished wine.No region of Italy is without vineyards, although some have more renown than others.
