History

Established in 1964, Wimbledon School of English is one of the oldest English language schools in the UK. The school was founded in Wimbledon Village by Mrs Marjorie Housden who began by teaching English to overseas students who were living and working locally. By the mid-1970s, the school was so successful that we needed to find larger premises.

Outside the classroom, we offer free academic consultation, guided self-study and hands-on learning support. All we ask of you in return is that you attend all classes and complete the homework set by your teachers.

We are pleased to have a language learning app called WSE English! This app allows people to improve their English language skills on the go - even if they're not connected to the internet. The unique points of WSE English, are that it can be translated into 10 different languages which means that even those with no knowledge of English can make a start on improving their language skills.
