Located at Bluecoat Wood Nurseries, Otley Road in Harrogate, we're an independent, registered charity with suitably qualified staff and a team of volunteers who provide adults with learning and other disabilities training in horticulture, allied crafts and rural skills. We would like to thank all our supporters and customers for their wonderful support and patience during our lockdown at the nursery.
If you are visiting the nursery, please ensure that you follow the on site guidance, which is in place to protect your safety. Hopkins caf is now open serving a tasty selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, Ploughman's lunch, and delicious cakes and treats (including vegan and gluten free), along with tea and barista coffee.

About Us
Report
Situated at the heart of the nursery our garden now extends to approximately three quarters of an acre and has been developed by students for over 10 years; two years being spent improving the heavy clay into a workable soil, and planting screening to provide some shelter. We continue to develop the garden which has become a focal point for visitors to our shop to stroll around and enjoy.
Achievements
Report
Phil Airey and Steve Scarre had the honour to chat with The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, when they visited the Horticap Stand at The Great Yorkshire Show 2021. The Duchess admired our display and was particularly taken with our own Charles and Camilla mice. It was an exciting experience for Phil and Steve.
Environment
Report
Recycling is an excellent way of saving energy and conserving the environment. It is one of the best ways for you to have a positive impact on the world in which we live. Recycling is important to both the natural environment and us. Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment.
Hopkins Cafe & Shop
Report
We have a fantastic room upstairs that's perfect for business meetings, networking groups, etc. You can now enjoy your hopkins food and drinks on the veranda, which offers lovely views. The shop at Horticap is an important outlet for the plants grown throughout the year as well as the varied crafts produced by the students.
Nature Trail
Report
Our revamped nature trail was made possible by a generous donation. We hope you find it both informative and a delight. We designed it to emphasise the importance of sustainability and how precious our ecosystem is. We believe adults and children alike will enjoy meandering around our free nature trail and discovering the different features.
