At Carlyle House Cafe, Restaurant, and Private Dining Room our aim is to offer you mouth-wateringly delicious and imaginative dishes, - all made freshly in our kitchen, - served in a modern, informal atmosphere within a spectacular, historic building. Our day-time cafe is open daily, featuring breakfast and lunch, as well as a variety of freshly-baked scones, cakes, and slices to go with morning coffee and afternoon tea.
We also have two private rooms on the first floor which are available for hire, and we are able to cater for parties, meetings, and events, - including during the evening. The venue is operated by Glenfinlas, Edinburgh-based cafe operators and caterers with over twenty years of experience and an undying passion for gourmet food.

Report
It is an important 18th Century Classical building with rich Corinthian detailing on the exterior. Its north-facing facade has a flamboyant miniature palace frontage with ashlar masonry and raised quoin ends. The building was originally designed to house a shop on each side of the central pend which led to a close behind, where there was a stable and a garden.

Our bright Cafe is located on the ground floor of the building, and has seating for up to 40 people. From hearty soups served with freshly-baked soda bread, to platters, salads, and more substantial lunch dishes as well as an array of scones, cakes, and slices, our talented Cooks work hard to ensure we always keep flavour as our focus.
Private Dining
Report
There are two rooms available for private dining, canape parties, coffee mornings, catered events, and meetings on the first floor of the building. These can be reserved from 10am until 11pm every day. Unfortunately, there is no lift in the building, and there are two flights of stairs from the ground floor to the first floor.
