Our Story
Report
Farndon Fields is a first generation family business founded by Kevin Stokes in 1983 when he ploughed the grass fields and planted the first potatoes at Farndon Fields Farm. The potatoes were sold from the farmhouse and soon the farm shop was born. Kevin and Milly have together grown the business and today it consists of a 550 acre farm and a large farm shop selling the farm's produce along with an extensive selection of local and British food.
We grow
Report
Farming is at the heart of Farndon Fields. It's where we started (back in 1983), what the business has been built on through the years and what we love doing every day. The farm is made up of 550 acres of farmland in the beautiful rolling Leicestershire and Northamptonshire countryside. On our farm, we grow over 40 different varieties of potato, fruit and vegetables only meters away from our farm shop.
Spring
Report
Spring is the start of the growing season and it's a hive of activity with the farm team busy planting fruit and vegetable crops. These are planted in succession with two week gaps between each crop so we can ensure when it comes to harvest time there will be a constant supply of ready-to-pick produce for the Farm Shop.
Summer
Report
Our Summer starts when the strawberries turn red and the days start to get longer. The strawberry season starts in late May (weather depending!) and continues through the Summer until the end of September. We're always excited at Farndon Fields when we get to taste the first crop of our famous strawberries.
Autumn
Report
Autumn means harvest time! The farm team are as busy as ever trying to keep up with the fresh fruit and vegetables which are ripening every day. The farm shop will be bursting with nearly 30 different Farndon Fields grown varieties on its shelves at the height of harvest time. Mid-September and the potato harvest begins in earnest.
