There are two types of asbestos survey that can be carried out. These are the Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Survey and the Asbestos Management Survey. If you plan to carry out major works or demolition of part or all of a building then an asbestos refurbishment and demolition survey is the correct survey type.
Asbestos Management Surveys

Asbestos Management Surveys are carried out in line with HSG 264 and identify as far as is practical the location, extent and condition of suspected asbestos containing materials. The survey will determine whether suspected materials do actually contain asbestos. It assesses the likelihood of fibre release, and provides recommendations as to the remedial action to be undertaken.
Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys

If you plan to carry out refurbishment works to a property or demolition then this is the survey you require before works start! The Asbestos Refurbishment and Demolition survey is a statutory requirement. It is a fully intrusive survey that identifies asbestos containing materials, their extent and condition.
