William was born and bred on the family livestock farm at Alvediston, near Shaftesbury on the Wiltshire/Dorset borders in an area that the Grant family have farmed for over three generations. Born and educated in Yorkshire, Susan Grant is the daughter of a dairy farmer and traditionally involved with the Young Farmers Club.
