Extremely disappointed with Elddis Brand-new caravan with damp problems

I purchased a brand-new Elddis Explore 304 in July 2022, expecting a quality caravan that would give us many years of enjoyment. Sadly, my experience has been extremely disappointing.

I discovered damp problems and visible damage to my caravan, which is incredibly upsetting for a caravan that was only a few years old. I had used a minimum of four dehumidifiers in an attempt to keep the caravan dry. The caravan was not used in 2023 because of personal circumstances.

I arranged for a damp inspection, but the report could not identify the cause of the damp. Despite contacting Elddis and sending three complaint letters, my warranty claim was declined because the annual habitation services had been missed. Elddis also referred to a small crack in the top corner and explained that this affected the warranty claim.

I understand that manufacturers have warranty terms and conditions, and that servicing requirements are important. However, as a customer who invested in a brand-new caravan, I am extremely disappointed that I am left with damp problems and visible damage, without a satisfactory resolution to the underlying issue.

The experience has caused considerable stress, frustration and financial concern. I bought a new caravan for peace of mind, not to find myself dealing with damp problems and trying to establish what went wrong just a few years later.

I feel that the underlying cause of the damp should be properly understood, and I remain deeply disappointed with the outcome of my dealings with Elddis.
I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ELDISS TO ANYONE

Unfortunately i accidentally damaged my caravan. I took it too an authorised dealer who were very unreliable. Contact Michelle the Customer Services Manager at Erwin Hymer who was amazing. She took it up directly with the repairer on my behalf and sorted out my problems. She kept me updated throughout and I could not fault her professionalism. She is a credit to her employer and thanks very much for your help.

Placed an order for a brand new Elddis 196 with a six month wait. Paid a deposit in good faith. After five months of waiting got a call to say the price had gone up 3 thousand pounds and it was in the order that they can raise the price 10 percent after order.
Disgraceful business practice and cancelled the order and gone to a different supplier:

I bought a buccaneer cruiser, after the first service there were mechanical problems with the caravan that could of only occurred at the factory assembly, i was told by the dealer it was ok to take away and was safe to tow, so i said i would get it sorted next time i had a service as it meant 240 miles to get it sorted, i left it to the next service and Elddis refused to honour the warranty. This company will do everything in its power to turn down warranty work look at all the little writing small print. By year 3 the front windows needed to be removed and re sealed water ingress all around

Speaking from internal experience. Cheap materials used for everything. This is fact. Poor people who spend their life savings on these products. It's a death sentence. These people know exactly what they're doing. Erwin hymer use only the cheapest parts and consumables. To produce their caravans. Knowing fine well people aren't gonna be happy but do it anyway. When it comes to leakage of vans they know fine well this is an issue but all they care about is getting the numbers out to disappoint. They expect people to seal the vans who aren't trained and no nothing about it using silicone without

Disgraceful build quality on my 2013 xplore 304. Quote for 5000 to sort water ingress all over back of van that should be covered under warranty but Elddis want nothing to do with it. Now discovered this area underneath. No wonder theres water ingress. Floor rotten because panel on bottom of van was obviously cut short at manufacture!! Unbelievable. Will never ever buy an elddis van again. Shocking.

My Buccaneer Schooner could have been a nice van but for the extremely poor build quality. Customer service none existent, they won't talk to me about my caravan, just had to replace melted 240v socket that could have set fire to caravan. Still waiting for water ingress repair after nearly 12 months. Wouldn't touch another Elddis with a barge pole.

Our initial period of living with our dealer special CV40 has been superb. Valued help and very good relationship with both our local dealer and Elddis. Long may this continue
