Fred Stevens Funeral Directors was originally established as a building company early in the 20th Century, and in common with many other builders, funerals were a small sideline. By 1960 the company was in second generation hands, and in 1986 began trading solely as funeral directors. Our purpose-built premises in Newmarket Road, Nailsworth.

These brief notes are intended solely to provide guidance about the immediate tasks that need to be accomplished upon a death. This section gives specific guidance when a death is reported to the Coroner. This will usually be in cases where death has occurred suddenly and unexpectedly, or in unnatural or suspicious circumstances.

Our Mercedes fleet, finished in our signature dark green, consists of a stylish, traditional, glass-roofed hearse that displays the coffin and flowers to best effect, together with a matching MPV-based limousine that offers increased passenger comfort and better accessibility for elderly and disabled passengers.

We are legally required by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to display a Standardised Price List in a format specified by the CMA, for the purposes of baseline price comparison. Our chosen funeral pre-payment plan is the Perfect Choice Funeral Plan, provided by Ecclesiastical Planning Services, part of the Gloucester-based Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. Ecclesiastical is a specialist, UK-based financial services group which has been protecting people, property and funds since it was founded in 1887.
