I just wanted to say a very big thank you for running these sessions each week, especially when we were in lockdown. They really helped me get through a challenging period and I have loved finding a new hobby. While I am still nowhere near catching my arms around my knees and behind my back. I do think I have made some overall improvements in my flexibility!

Our story
Report
Together we have more than 50 years experience as yoga practitioners and we aim to inspire and encourage students to excel in their practice of yoga through sharing our enthusiasm and dedication, as well as offering a unique space for the yoga community. When we took over Yoga on Tay in 2017 we upgraded the studio with underfloor heating and a reception area, and fully equipped it, creating a safe and supportive environment for practice.
Our teachers
Report
After initially qualifying in 1997 as an Introductory Iyengar Yoga Teacher, and then in 2004 as a Intermediate Teacher, I gained my first Senior Teaching Certificate in 2013. Now also qualified as an Assessor, Teacher Trainer and Mentor with the IY(UK), I have been practising for 40 years! Run specialised classes - from pregnancy to therapy yoga, the latter being my particular area of interest and expertise.
New to Yoga
Report
You are very welcome to join any Block or Class advertised as Beginners, Level 1 or General. These classes cover a variety of poses: standing, sitting, twisting, sometimes flowing and fast moving and at other times we practice in a more restorative way, but always sequenced well as this is a unique feature of Iyengar yoga.
1:1 & Private Sessions
Report
One-to-one sessions with Julie give you the opportunity to learn how to adapt your practice when dealing with milder conditions e.g. Yoga on Tay offers corporate classes (one-off workshops or regular classes) in your workplace. A practical approach to enhance well-being, good posture, and create less stress in the work place.
Workshops & retreats
Report
These workshops will be largely practical in nature with elements of theory also delivered to better appreciate asana in action whether it be for the musculoskeletal body, the major body systems (circulation, excretion etc) or the quietening of these for focus and pranayama.
Please note that to join any one of this series of workshops we require a minimum of one year's current class attendance with a certified Iyengar teacher and for you to be familiar with both shoulder balance and head balance.Whilst each workshop can be booked individually, to get the most out of this series, we do recommend attending all four.
