Our site at Canterbury Road East in Ramsgate, was first established in 1936 when the then owner Charlie Philpott, built a garage specialising in the sales and servicing of motorbikes. The business ran successfully until the outbreak of World War II when the site was requisitioned by the army and returned to commercial use at the end of hostilities.
Built in the fashionable Art Deco style of the time, the original building was a single storey, with the upper floor and extra workshop space being added as the business prospered. Philpotts Garage continued into the 1960's when the site became a petrol station - the canopy is still in place. Then in the 1980's, the site reverted back to sales and serving, operating as V-Wise - a German car specialist.
