With five par 3's, and one par 5 on the card, the course provides a challenge based on accuracy rather than distance. The course is maintained in excellent condition all year round, with greens renowned for being true and consistent.

A seemingly gentle start, as advocated by many modern course architects, but for the hooker and puller there is out of bounds on the left (for right handers that is) and for slicers and blockers there are trees on the right. As the green is tucked close to the out of bounds, it would be sensible to play the second shot to the centre of the green, unless the player has "warmed up" sufficiently prior to teeing off.

Brough Golf Club is a readily accessible course being situated 12 miles from the major passenger Ferryport of Hull, 5 miles from the Humber Bridge, 2 miles from the A63 (M62) and half a mile from Brough Station and the Intercity rail network. For air travellers, Humberside Airport is half an hour away and both East Midlands and Leeds Bradford Airports are within easy range.
