Rue Des Fontenelles
Rue des Fontenelles is based in the pretty Dartmoor town of Chagford, Devon and specialises in French antiques, interiors and oil paintings. The business was founded in South West France by Caroline Mason over eleven years ago in a stunning 18th century Maison Borgeoise at 1 Rue des Fontenelles.

Having lived in France for some time and undertaking two major house restorations whilst there, Caroline developed a passion for French antiques, interior design and art.Its amazing what you learn working on old buildings and it is those finishing touches - furniture, art and small details that create the atmosphere in each room and bring a house to life.

I would happily decorate my whole house with the contents of this shop. Every piece is tasteful and Caroline the shop owner is lovely to talk to and gives great advice on interiors to go with her pieces. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough! It's unique and extremely stylish. Everyone needs to see this shop for themselves plus the location is extremely rural and stunning even though Rue des Fontenelles wouldn't look out of place along the King's Road!

One of my favourite destination antique shops in Devon, always something new and lovely, particularly the French and Belgian paintings which are (perhaps I shouldn’t say) remarkably affordable and worth a visit even if you have run out of space for charming French furniture. Caroline has an expert eye and can advise. Highly recommended.

An absolute gem of a find in the little town of Chagford. I found a very unique gift for the people I was staying with while on holiday there. I would recommend to anyone visiting Chagford. A wonderfully eclectic mix of items!

I went into this seemingly nice shop in chagford looking to buy some antiques for my new country escape home and started chatting to the owner about which pieces would best suit my dream home. She persisted to tell me that I shouldn’t bother wearing a mask as Covid-19 was made as a government tool to control humanity and that allowing myself to be vaccinated would ensure I would be microchipped.
I left the shop abruptly, and would not recommend to anyone.
