A separate stand-alone brand to Barbour, Barbour International began its journey with the 3rd Generation of the Barbour Family, Duncan Barbour, who was a keen motorcyclist. He introduced the one-piece wax cotton suit called the Barbour International; developed specifically for the 1936 International Six Day Trials event which became so popular and was worn by actor Steve McQueen.
