The Firs Nursery has been established for over 25 years. It operates from premises in the grounds of Chartham Primary School. We care for and educate children from the ages of 2 up to 5 years in our setting. The children have access to an enclosed outdoor play area with climbing equipment, as well as a dining room and the main play room.

The nursery is on one floor, access is via a ramp and there is a disabled toilet. It is open each weekday from 7.45am to 5.30pm, term time only. We strive to create an environment where all children achieve their full potential. We are proud of our inclusive ethos, where we recognise all children and families as individuals.
Services
The setting
Report
We are a small nursery on the site of Chartham Primary School in the rural village of Chartham, near Canterbury. The nursery site benefits from a large outside area set amongst fields and farm land. The buildings are nestled within fir trees and include a large playroom, recently refurbished children's toilets and nappy changing area as well as dining room and kitchen.
Our routine
Report
We use 'In the Moment Planning' to plan activities and provide resources relevant to your child's individual interests and developmental stage. Each key person will make observations that inform assessments against the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, and share photos, videos and learning with parents on the Tapestry app.
Squirrels Club
Report
The Firs Nursery is open from 7.30am to 6pm weekdays for Nursery children. We also offer breakfast club and afterschool club places to children from Chartham Primary school. These school-age provisions are known as Squirrels Club. The club is most suitable for children from Reception to Year 2 but we will accept applications for Key stage 2 children (8-11 years.)
Communication
Report
All staff at The Firs understand the importance of working in partnership with families. We work together to ensure all children learn and develop, achieving their full potential. Parents have daily contact and feedback about their child's learning experiences at nursery. We use an online learning journal system called Tapestry which allows us to share photos, videos and observations.
Fees
Report
We accept all childcare vouchers. We accept 15 hours Free for Two Funding, Universal 15 hours funding for 3 and 4 years old and 30 hours funding for 3 and 4 year olds. Funding can be used in all sessions apart from lunch. The 'Pricing Policy' now includes a 'late payment' charge of 5% on any fees which remain outstanding at the end of the term.
