As a youngster I enjoyed many school holidays as a junior apprentice, I was fascinated at the way he could take an old chair/sofa, restore and give new life to an item that only days before had looked certain to be heading for the bin.
I felt at home in the workshop environment, and knew then that upholstery was the only career path I'd like to follow. Unfortunately my grandfather died when I was in my mid teens, and I completed my 5 year apprenticeship in traditional upholstery before undertaking two years in contract soft furnishings.
