Paws 'n' Claws was started by Les and Denise Forshaw, both graduates of Liverpool University - Les in Mechanical Engineering and Denise in Dentistry. Les and Denise are married with four children. Planning permission for a purpose built kennels and cattery was obtained in 1990.
After a major investment in facilities the business was started and grew rapidly to become established as one of the premier animal care centres in the North-West of England.The original aim of the business was to provide quality animal care and services and we are continuously trying to improve on the standards we set.

Dog boarding

All our kennels provide heated and insulated accommodation designed to be comfortable, spacious and easy to clean. Individual 24 hour heating for your dog is also available on request. We can house all breeds of dogs from small to large and have extra large kennels for families of dogs. To ensure the greatest comfort for your pet while in our care, please feel free to bring their favourite bedding and toys from home.
Cat boarding

Our cat chalets are spacious and light with one raised room for sleeping and another room for eating and exercise. You are welcome to bring scratching posts and toys to keep them entertained during their stay together with their favourite bed and bedding.
When you go on holiday we want both you and your cats to feel equally relaxed so please pay us a visit any day between 11:00 am and 3:00pm before your cats first stay and we'll be glad to show you round.

Grooming

Most pets benefit from regular grooming to help them maintain their skin and coat. It also makes them feel better and look great and to make things even more convenient for you our grooming salon is open 7 days a week. Our professional salon comes complete with fully equipped bathing room, a large styling area and is ideally suited for grooming dogs.
Residential training

Why not keep your dog busy and occupied while you're on holiday and return to a more obedient dog. If you're having a particular problem with your dog eg pulling on the lead we may be able to help with one of our short courses. Our expert dog trainers offer specialist residential dog training courses lasting 1,2, or 3 weeks depending on your dog's requirements.

Alfie our cocker spaniel stayed here 17th-28th August 2021.
It was a last minute booking and they managed to accommodate him.
We paid extra so that he would be provided with evening exercise on the large field.
Very happy with the service here and would definitely look to book him in here in the future.

Amazing! Highly Recommended!
Took my very aggressive boy Rex for the 4 week Residential Training course.
Truely Amazed at how much Christine managed to teach him in the 4 weeks.
I was skeptical at first that he would let anyone even come near him other than me as he's really aggressive, but Christine did an amazing job of gaining his trust and working with him.
Lots more work ahead, but he's got a solid foundation now to build on.

I’ve sent my basset Betsy to Paws n claws for a number of years now, they are amazing!!! Betsy isn’t the easiest of dogs but they do everything to accommodate her, she is so well looked after and the kennels are immaculate! Regular photo updates on social media are also fab!! Wouldn’t put her anywhere else… thank you!!!

Our rescue girl Harper stayed with paws and claws for 4 nights along with 2 cats both of which are rescues too. They all returned happy and we received updates on how they were getting on. We would definitely get all of our pets to stay there with no hesitation. Lovely staff and very professional and caring.

My Mum’s two dogs have been staying at Paws and Claws for over 6 months, as she had been too poorly to look after them. We can’t thank the staff enough for looking after them so well. They provided such a caring environment for them and they really adapted quickly, due to the exceptional care and attention given by all the staff. We can’t thank you enough and would highly recommend Paws and Claws.

Jake has been going to Paws and Claws for many years now and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. All the staff are lovely and treat all the dogs as though they are their own. Jakes loves his runs round the enclosed paddock. Jake also goes to Helen for grooming and always comes back looking and smelling beautiful. Would highly recommend Paws and Claws for boarding, grooming and training courses with Christine and Heidi are brilliant too.
