We've been crafting real wood flooring and other timber for individual homes and the hospitality trade since 1979. In the late seventies Steven Bedford recognised a demand for real wood flooring, having produced some solid oak flooring for his own house. UK Hardwoods now specialise in producing exceptional solid wide board flooring with a width of up to 400mm, over double that of most commercial sawmills.
In 2011 Steven's son Tom began to take over the management of the company. Tom decided to specialise in creating bespoke flooring using only English hardwood giving the workshop a remarkably unique aspect compared to other flooring options. As the business has grown Tom, who now runs UK Hardwoods, has been devoted to preserving the traceability of all the hardwood flooring and other timber produced.

Established in 1979, we use UK grown hardwoods to bring ideas to life, creating a truly unique space. All of our timber is sawn, seasoned, kiln dried and prepared at our yard in Devon. We specialise in producing solid wood flooring from Oak and Ash, using floorboards up to 14 wide. We supply a range of structural components and are able to saw and season bespoke pieces for any project.

We craft real wood floors to order, giving you the satisfaction of fully traceable timber sourced from UK certified woodlands, milled, seasoned, kiln-dried and prepared in our family-run yard in Devon. By using such a slow seasoning process all of our boards are able to be used over underfloor heating systems.
Heritage Oak
Report
Heritage solid Oak wood flooring from UK Hardwoods rolls and glides to emphasise the character of the grain. Larger knots, occasional inactive worm holes and undulations in the flooring mean it is often described as rustic wood flooring. The beauty of this flooring is that it still retains its luxurious glossy and silky feel when walking over it with bare feet.

The signature flooring from UK Hardwoods. The range of small knots and occasional cat's paws and medullary rays in the natural oak flooring gives a characterful presence to a room. The honey and pale straw tones of the hardwood blend harmoniously into a home or space. We use the heartwood in the face of our boards, with minimal sapwood showing through your floor.
Ash
Report
Light in colour with an occasional subtle blush and soft olive woven undertones. Darker tones that ribbon through the boards add depth and character to the wood flooring, with character displayed through occasional knots. It is a less knotty wood than our Oak ranges, and suits simple designs. The boards can be easily stained to create a darker wood flooring or whitewashed for a Scandinavian style light wood flooring.
