We are Breakspeare Community Pre School, a dedicated early years provider based in Abbots Langley. Our team of experienced professionals, including Level 3 qualified staff and a qualified teacher as our Early Years Leader, delivers a comprehensive curriculum aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Services
Preschool Sessions
Structured morning and afternoon learning sessions for children aged 2-4. Our curriculum combines free-flow play with focused group activities including Leaf Group, Flower Group and Petal Group sessions. Each session includes outdoor access, creative activities, and specialist educational resources.
Nursery Programs
Full-day nursery care following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Includes 'Busy Box' and 'Busy Bag' activities, scissor skills development, and language and mathematics work. Sessions incorporate music, movement, and story time with individualised learning plans.
Toy Library
Free educational toy lending service for registered families. Borrow age-appropriate learning resources for two-week periods with online ordering available. Catalogue includes open-ended play materials supporting home learning extension.
After Preschool Club
Afternoon childcare until 4:00pm for working parents. Combines structured activities with free play in our secure garden and indoor facilities. Available from September 2025 as an add-on to standard sessions.
SEND Support
Tailored educational provision for children with special educational needs. Delivered by trained SENCOs with individualised learning plans and specialist resources. Regular parent consultations ensure consistent home-school support strategies.

What age groups do you accept?
We accept children aged 2-4 years for preschool and nursery education.
What are your operating hours?
Term-time only: 8:30am-4:00pm with morning (9:15-11:45) and afternoon (12:30-3:00) sessions.
Do you offer special educational needs support?
Yes, we have two SENCOs and follow individualised support plans for children with additional needs.
What qualifications do your staff hold?
7 staff hold Level 3 Preschool Practice qualifications or higher, including a qualified teacher as our Early Years Leader.
How do you involve parents in learning?
We provide weekly learning outlines and maintain a Key Person approach for individual development planning.

My eldest started Breakspeare back in 2006 and my youngest started in 2018 & has just left, both took a while to settle in however, the ladies who work at Breakspeare past & present have been absolutely amazing. Helpful, nurturing, informative and all round fantastic at their jobs. Keep up the FANTASTIC work, we will miss you all.

An amazing preschool. My daughter spent 2 years here and we absolutley loved it. All the ladies are so loving, caring and supportive. So sad to be moving on. Thank you all so so much for giving my little angel such a fantastic start to her journey. Xx

My son has been attending Breakspeare since October, 2018 and absolutely loves it. He has access to a wide range of resources, opportunities that I am unable to provide at home (for example when they had the chicks) and the chance to socialise with older children and adults. He has flourished in confidence and his understanding of the world has… expanded greatly. Noticeably his language is developing all the time, he is often busting out his favourite nursery rhymes and baby shark dance moves at home. Huge credit to the dedicated staff who work tirelessly to really get to know the children

My son left Breakspeare today after 2 years. I can’t recommend this Pre school enough. All the staff are amazing and have been a great support to myself and my son with special needs. We are going to miss you all. Thank you for everything!

My children have both been so happy and settled here - the preschool has helped them to develop confidence and independence. The staff are friendly and approachable and the facilities are great. I thoroughly recommend it.
