About
Report
I was brought up on a farm just outside Peebles (for those who know Crookston Farm you'll know how very lucky I was to grow up in such a beautiful place) and attended school in Peebles. After that I started my working life in the motor trade and didn't really leave for 24 years! For most of those years I worked as the sales administrator at the local Ford garage and I enjoyed my job as it was so varied and challenging.
Massage
Report
Massage therapy is understood to be one of the oldest methods of healing with references in medical texts from over 3000 years ago. It refers to the application of techniques to the soft tissue (muscle, tendon and fascia) of the body for the benefit of the client. These benefits are experienced in the musculoskeletal, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems of the body and can lead to general well-being.

Report
Manual Lymph Drainage is an extremely gentle but effective method of removing excess swelling caused by inefficiency in the lymphatic system. The technique encourages the flow of the lymph from the affected areas by creating a pumping action which stimulates the lymphatic vessels. Therefore, for example, if used in a facial this can reduce puffiness around the eyes and give the skin a more toned look.
Lymphoedema
Report
This is best understood by first looking at a deeper level into the anatomy and function of the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is part of our immune system and it has many functions. It is designed to transport our defence cells around the body allowing them to locate and fight bacterial invaders.
Lipoedema
Report
This is another medical condition which, although has very similar properties to lymphoedema, is actually a disease of the adipose (fat) tissues. It almost exclusively affects women only. It is characterised by disproportionately heavy hips, thighs and legs which, in later stages of the disease, stops at the ankle (like a cuff) leaving the feet unaffected.
