Accounting & General is the accountancy, tax and business advice practice of Alan Knight FCCA, covering Devon and the south west, based at Galmpton, twixt Brigham, Paignton and Totnes, eight miles from Torquay. We are a small but perfectly formed team of individuals covering all aspects of a full-service accountancy practice.

At Accounting & General we can prepare accounts for you, whatever the size of your business - from start-up to 10.2m turnover or less than 50 employees. For our guesthouse, smaller restaurants and pubs, holiday cottages and small retailers we generally produce the formal annual accounts. Where a client prefers to use their own in-house bookkeeping system, we are happy to receive and work on this at the end of the year.

We operate weekly and monthly payrolls for our clients, where we are advised each period of hours worked, new starters, leavers and other details. We process the information, to produce payslips and reports and to file under RTI (real time information) with HMRC. We operate basic monthly payrolls for micro businesses of one employee, as a part of our accountancy service.

At Accounting & General we specialise in business plans to support clients starting up or buying new businesses. Not only do we provide the finance pages, we also write the narrative covering all aspects. From our background of having been responsible for operating leisure businesses for commercial profit, we have, for an accountancy practice, a unique contribution to make to client plans.
Tax
Report
At Accounting & General we take the hassle of tax away from our clients, becoming their tax agent with HMRC. We strive to ensure our clients pay the least amount of tax possible. For new businesses we will register clients with HMRC, for income tax, corporation tax, PAYE and VAT. From accounts prepared, we then complete and submit the annual tax return, under the self-assessment regime.
