Briary Pre-school
We are a committee and charity run Pre-School, on the grounds of Briary Primary School. We are based at the back of the car park in a lovely big log cabin with two great outdoor areas. We offer spaces for children age two years old to five years old and run term time only.

At Briary Pre-School we follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework to ensure every child's early years experiences are happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and support their development, care and learning needs.Briary Pre-School is open term time only - 38 weeks of the year. Lunch club is run between 11.30 am and 12.30 pm which unfortunately is not included within funded hours.

Staff All About Us
Report
I am the SENCo, co-ordinating support for children with a range of difficulties and Designated Safeguarding Lead. I live in Greenhill with my husband and family, I have two children, my son who is now 22 and my daughter who is 26, and our lovely dogs. I previously worked as an Education Officer in an advertising and public relations company for the dairy industry, in the heart of London for 20 years.
Areas of Learning
Report
Children start to learn about the world around them from the moment they are born. The care and education offered by our pre-school helps children to continue to do this by providing all of the children with interesting activities that are appropriate for their age and stage of development. There are seven areas of learning and development that must shape educational programmes in early year's pre-schools.
Every Child A Talker ECAT
Report
At Briary Pre-School all staff are trained in the principles of ECAT (Every Child A Talker). Here are 10 top tips to hep support and develop your child's communication. Get the child's attention first - get down to the child's level and engage their attention before speaking or asking a question. Young children find it difficult to listen and carry on with an activity at the same time.
Tapestry
Report
Tapestry is an online system that the Pre-School uses for the children's learning journeys. Instead of the children having books, that the staff write their observations and stick in photos in, it is now all done online. This means that you the parents and carers can view your child's learning journey whenever you like to see how your child is getting on at the Pre-School.
Food Champion
Report
As a Pre-School, we are trying to promote healthier eating and a good balance diet in the Pre-School and outside of the Pre-School. As a setting, we now follow ideas from the Food Champion workshop. Nicola Wheeler (Deputy Manager) completed intense training with Food Champion and have cascaded it to all staff members on staff development days so every staff member is aware.
