Steffan Vets is a nine vet mixed practice based in Lampeter. The practice deals with all species of animals and covers the West Wales countryside, within approximately 18 miles of Lampeter. The practice has a long history since it was set up in Llanybydder prior to the 1950's by Daf Davies. Mr Lyn Thomas first started treating animals in Lampeter next to the old primary school in 1956.
Since this time the practice has had many bases within the town until it moved to it's current location on the High Street in the 1970's. In 2014 we expanded into the neighbouring shop (Number 4).

Emergency Service
Report
We provide 24 hour emergency cover, 365 days of the year for clients of the Practice. In an emergency, outside normal office hours, call us on 01570 422322. If the Vet is out on a call, an answering service will take your details and a Vet will ring you back as soon as possible. Please remember that outside of normal office hours we are not fully staffed.
Lampeter Surgery
Report
Lampeter is the main surgery where we have kennels and cages, operating theatre, consulting room, lambing room, fully stocked pharmacy and more. Our inpatient facilities have recently been refurbished. We have separate dog and cat kennels and an isolation facility for infectious cases. Our laboratory facilities were extended and with have a new lambing room (large animal room).
Seeing Practice and EMS

EMS (Extra-mural Studies) is the time that vet students spend in practice gaining valuable experience. We don't have any structured EMS but we are willing for students to come along and learn. We will try to offer as much hands on experience as possible and we are more than willing to teach, however this does depend on the diary!
Written Prescriptions
Report
You may obtain Prescription Only Medicines Veterinary, (POM-Vs) from your veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy. Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe POM-Vs only for animals under their care. A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.
Pets

The practice has consulting rooms in Lampeter and Tregaron. We regularly treat cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets and guinea pigs along with rats, mice and other more exotic pets. We believe in a proactive, preventative approach to your pet's healthcare. We have designed Pet Health Plans to make responsible pet ownership simple and affordable with monthly payments.
