Tain Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole links golf course designed by Old Tom Morris in 1890 in the Royal Burgh of Tain, Ross-shire, Scotland. Tain's fortune is that so many of Old Tom's original holes survive. Five Morris holes remain in each half. Going out, these are the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th and 9th.
Coming home, they are the 10th, 14th, 15th, 16, and 17th. Indeed, the 17th hole is rated probably the finest of all Tom Morris short holes anywhere. Not surprisingly, therefore, Tain is fondly referred to as Old Tom Morris's Northern Jewel, which treasures the Grand Old Man of Golf as its founding genius.

Welcome to Tain Golf Club in Ross-Shire, a traditional Scottish Highland links course designed by Old Tom Morris situated 9 miles south of Dornoch and 31 miles north of Inverness. Our Championship length links overlooking the Dornoch Firth arguably offers one of the best settings imaginable in the highlands for a round of golf.

We hope that these notes will help maximize your enjoyment of the Course and Club Facilities. Please check in at the Shop and arrive for your tee time at least ten minutes prior to play. Golf buggies and trolleys should be kept well clear of teeing areas, greens and approaches. The Club would appreciate your support of the Bar, Lounge and Dining Facilities before and/or after your game.

We really like to hear what you think of your time at Tain Golf Club so please take the time to let us know by leaving a comment using our contact form. My partner Carole and myself wanted to drop you an email to thank you for your hospitality and praise your beautiful golf course.
The staff in the clubhouse were so friendly, your professional was so helpful giving us tips and guidance about the course, the green keeping staff we met as we played all spoke and pointed things out about the course and the members we met who were working on the course were so nice and chatty.A short note just to thank everyone at the club for the warm welcome we received last Friday.
