Thrumster Estates
We are part of the "good to go" scheme through Visit Scotland and have steps in place to keep our guests and staff safe during this time. Thrumster House is a lived-in family home that has been welcoming visitors on holidays, sporting and fishing trips for many years. Here you will find a warm highland welcome and a house full of character and atmosphere.

We are very pet friendly and have dogs at Thrumster as part of our family. The Castle of Mey, the Queen Mother's holiday home is open to visitors and is 40mins drive from Thrumster. The surrounding area has some lovely woodland walks, and even has an Iron aged Broch in the grounds, some 2 miles away is the Yarrows Archaeological Trail which is one of the largest concentrations of neolithic remains in Europe.

Fieldsports
Report
The shooting at Thrumster is very varied, being an area of very diverse habitats. The estate has 5,000 acres of grouse moor, and the rest is composed of mixed arable ground, in the small holdings known as crofts, and of rough pasture, marshes and waterside ground near our lochs, burns and ponds. The moor holds good stocks of grouse, and partridge are found on its fringes.
Falconry
Report
Thrumster has always been a magnet for the falconer, The pinnacle of this noble art is the peregrine falcon against the red grouse, the fastest gamebird on the wing. Our resident population of both ensures that the quarry is not easily taken, and the thrill of the stoop is not always followed by the kill.
