Orpago
At Orpago we strongly believe in the heritage of British craftsmanship. We combine modern methods with traditional techniques in all of our work. We source mostly home grown timbers, sometimes European or American; selected individually for each and every project. We pride ourselves in taking all the time needed to create beautiful, timeless, handcrafted furniture.

Everything is made by hand either at our Devon workshop or at the workshop of Sittingfirm chairmakers, before being handfinished, delivered and assembled in your home by our dedicated team. We will only use timber that comes from ethical sources and work closely with organisations such as Grown in Britain, to ensure a sustainable future for all of our woodlands.
Services
We specialise in handcrafted solid wood furniture such as Bespoke Dining Tables and Handmade Chairs. We create both made-to-order tables, available in a selection of British timbers, and bespoke furniture commissions. The company was established in 2011 by husband and wife Tom and Caroline Dorich, as an independent furniture workshop with a focus on true craftsmanship and a desire to work with and support British woodlands.

At Orpago we believe that a handmade dining room table is the heart of the home. It is the site of mealtimes, family gatherings, the place where adventures - big and small - are planned. It is the spot for homework, for chopping vegetables and baking cakes. It is right up there with your bed and your sofa as one of the most used items in your home.

I saw an example of Tom's work on a stand at the Kingsbridge show and was at once impressed by the originality and quality. I now have, in my main room, a 'coffee' table that I commissioned from him. I am quite delighted with it. It is craftsmanship of the highest quality. I was also greatly impressed by his readiness to discuss in detail what I needed.

Much of the work we do is commissioned bespoke furniture, which involves designing for and working to your specifications. From forest to sawmill, from workshop to home, the path of every piece of furniture we make is carefully considered and we pride ourselves in taking all the time needed to create beautiful pieces of furniture that exceed expectations.

We are passionate about British forestry and maintaining our woodlands. We only use ethically sourced timber from sustainable forests. The timbers we favour are oak, ash, elm, sweet chestnut and sycamore, all of which produce extremely attractive finishes and lend themselves to bespoke craftsmanship.
