Stoneman Funeral Service
We are still asking for masks to be worn at all of our sites, on funerals and when in our vehicles. Stoneman Funeral Service was established in 1865 and is now a sixth generation family business. We are here to help and guide you, our advice is free and may be sought at any time. With our long experience as local funeral directors in Surrey, we are ready to act as advisers on all matters connected with funerals.

The earlier you contact one of our funeral homes, the more help we can give. Burials and cremations throughout the British Isles or abroad may be arranged with complete confidence through Stoneman Funeral Service. We believe that the funeral service should be as individual as the person who has died and therefore offer a wide choice of services which can be tailored to suit the needs, wishes and requirements of the family of the deceased.
Services
The ways we can help
Report
Liaising with the family and the cemetery or cremation authorities to arrange a convenient day and time for the funeral. Providing a clear estimate of both our fees and disbursements (fees we pay on your behalf). Organising the design and print of service sheets and hymn sheets, by liaising with the family, minister and designer.
Pre-arranged funerals
Report
We are well aware of the concern many people have, either in respect of funeral arrangements for themselves, or for a relative or friend for whom they are responsible. This is not just concern for the practical implications but most of all for the costs involved. Many people wish to organise and make provision for their funerals in advance of their own passing, in order to make things easier for their families.
Probate
Report
When the deceased has left a will this needs to be proved at the Probate Registry. Once probate has been granted, the executors named in the will are then able to administer the estate. You can look for wills online, after probate has been granted here. If the deceased has not left a will they are said to have died intestate.
Donations and Flowers
Report
We are often asked to make a collection of donations in memory of the deceased, which are sent either in lieu of or in addition to floral tributes. Cheques should be made payable to the charity chosen and handed or posted to us, together with a covering letter. The donor's names are listed for the family's information and the final amount forwarded to the fund or charity.
When a death occurs
Report
He/she may write out a Medical Certificate of Death when visiting the house or may request you to collect from the surgery. If cremation is to take place, the doctor should be informed as they may wish to arrange for an independent doctor to visit the house before the deceased is removed. Once the Medical Certificate of Death has been completed, we are able to bring the deceased into our care.
