Read a brief summary of our story so far, and discover our roots in the communities we serve. Donald McGregor came to Thurso in the 1960s to take over the running of the practice of John Simison. John had died suddenly, and the practice was left to his widow, Jean. Jean agreed to stay on to supervise the running of the practice, and even after her retirement she would happily help out answering phones in the evenings or weekends.

The practice grew and soon became established in both the towns in Caithness. Over the years the practice in Thurso developed to meet the needs of the local community. Premises were bought in Princes Street, and these premises were renovated to become the town's veterinary surgery. Many 'characters' worked in the team as vets or receptionists or administative staff.

Vision and Mission The principles which underpin our work
Report
Discover the principles which underpin the work we do. These explain the reasons why we have an interest in caring for, and safe-guarding the welfare of, animals under our care. Using input from all staff groups, we brought together a range of statements about the practice which encapsulate the work we do and why we do it.
Pets Caring for your pet
Report
Learn some of the ways in which we can help care for your pet both in good health and poorer health. Please phone the number of the local surgery during office hours and our reception team will arrange an appointment time with you. It is always possible to do house calls. However, it is far better for most animals to be seen at the surgery.
