Osteopathy
Report
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions within the body. An osteopath will use a combination of touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the range of movement at joints, reduce muscle tension and to improve the blood and nerve supply to tissues.
Sports Massage
Report
Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. It is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of massage before or after an event may improve performance and aid recovery.
Equine Osteopathy
Report
Equine osteopaths use a combination of massage, joint manipulation and articulation, and stretching to help improve a horse's structure and therefore function. Horses are athletes - whether they are your happy hack or a top-end race horse. Their health must be taken seriously including their musculo-skeletal health.
Faq
Report
I get asked this frequently and my answer starts with 'not much!' The main difference, however, is in how they are introduced to their particular specialism. Chiropractors, physiotherapists and osteopaths spend between four and five years practising treatment methods and techniques, studying anatomy and medical subjects, working through conditions and then developing their clinical reasoning skills and management protocols under supervision.
