Offering friendly and professional help for your pain and discomfort from our team of Exeter based osteopaths. Our aims are to provide you with symptomatic relief as quickly as possible and to investigate any long-term cause of your problem. We will also help you understand and manage your symptoms and advise you, when possible, on how to avoid painful episodes in the future, whether it is back pain or any other area of discomfort.
The enormous twisting and compression forces which the baby is exposed to during the birth process can put a great deal of strain on its tissues. Cranial osteopathy is a refined, subtle form of treatment using gentle movements to release stress and strains throughout the body.

Common Conditions
Report
We are a family-oriented group practice in Exeter. Our osteopathic clinic provides help for a wide range of problems, some of which are well-known as osteopathic areas of interest, such as back pain, neck pain and sports injuries.
Other areas are perhaps less well-known; these include the treatment of babies after difficult or lengthy labour, who might have symptoms of colic, sleeplessness or persistent crying, or older people who develop problems after illness, injury or operations. Our clientele therefore might be of any age from two days old to a hundred years or more.

What do we treat
Report
These are conditions which we know are backed by research findings. However, this is a rather 'un-osteopathic' way of looking at things: there is always a debate in the osteopathic profession about the "treatment of conditions". In our clinic in Exeter we profess to treat people, not conditions. Why is this?
Osteopathy for Pregnancy
Report
During pregnancy and birth, the body will have to accommodate enormous postural changes and forces. The combined weight of the baby and associated tissues can be up to 20 pounds. The necessary postural compensations allied with an increase in ligamentous laxity from hormonal changes can lead to discomfort and a wide range of symptoms.
Back pain
Report
The spine is a complicated structure with many types of pain-sensitive tissue in and around it. It is hardly surprising that it gives us all trouble sometimes. The commonest type of symptoms we notice in the back is the muscle aching we get from overdoing work or exercise - from digging in the garden, carrying heavy objects, playing sports, or maintaining a position too long at a computer or in a car.
