We are a 105 place Forest School Nursery that offers childcare from birth to 5 years. Forest School is a key approach to learning which underpins the Free Rangers ethos and is incorporated into our daily planning. At Free Rangers we believe that a child's happiness is the foundation upon which learning is built.
Our highly qualified staff nurture every child's self-esteem and self-confidence to ensure they embrace the opportunities on offer at Free Rangers. Also staff take their lead from the children. They listen carefully and gently guide children in directions that will further their learning and development and inspire curiosity and wonderment.

Our History
Report
Welton Manor Farm has been in our family for three generations. Our Grandad, George Knowles used to farm the land, a large, ruddy-faced, smiler of a man with a big personality and an even bigger voice. Then came our Dad, Lawrence. He nurtured the land and his animals thoughtfully and successfully. In fact it was his idea to open Free Rangers on the farm.
Our Story So Far

We've been open for over 2 years now so it's time we took a breath to reflect on the journey. Back in 2011, we only had a handful of Free Rangers, now our waiting lists grow and we find ourselves in the position of thinking of creative ways in which we can cater for the needs of yet more Free Range families.
The Site

Surrounded by rolling countryside Free Rangers is located on a former working farm site and has exclusive access to 20 acres. The nursery building is a renovated 18th century mill barn and glass fronted loggia which house our learning areas; the Nest, Warren, Burrow and Den.
The immediate garden area can be accessed easily by all ages and is an exciting mix of textured paths, gentle grass mounds, a substantial sand pit, mud kitchen and a paved area.Off the nursery garden is the willow-fenced paddock where our fire pit sits in between the handmade, round-wood timber Fort and Log Cabin.

Forest School

Forest School is a key approach to learning which underpins the Free Rangers ethos and lies at the heart of what we do. Using children's preferred learning styles; being active, learning through practical outdoor experiences and employing all their senses. All sessions are delivered by a qualified Forest School practitioner and are fully risk assessed.
