We are an award-winning family owned funeral directors and funeral celebrants in Buckfastleigh, Ashburton and Totnes, serving families across South and Mid Devon including Torquay, Plymouth, Exeter, Ivybridge, Newton Abbot. In these uncertain times, we want to assure you that we continue to be available to you 24/7.
We believe that those who are bereaved should receive the same standards of care as under normal circumstances, and so will work with you to understand your needs at this time, and to ensure you can provide a meaningful service for the person who has died. We are streaming many of the funerals we hold via Zoom to people who are unable to attend.

About us
Report
Jane Morrell established her funeral company in 1999 and her husband Simon Smith joined her in 2005 and daughter Hannah in 2011. We are fiercely independent so that we can serve you in the best way we can, giving you time and attention when you most need it. We have been voted Good Funeral Guide Funeral Director Of The Year for the work we do.
Arranging a Funeral
Report
You may have come to this website because you have a funeral to arrange, now, soon, or further into the future. To do so is a tender task, perhaps bringing up feelings of sadness, loss, confusion, isolation, overwhelm and love. We aim to help you find the best possible way to say farewell, from the time you contact us until after the funeral.
What to do when someone dies
Report
It's nearly always a shock when someone dies, even when the death is expected. In the case of an unexpected death it is likely that the police and ambulance services will be involved and, after that, the coroner. But most deaths are not unexpected, and it is important to remember that when someone dies there is no need to rush into hasty decisions.
Religious, Unaffiliated, Secular
Report
For the funeral of a person with a particular faith or religion we will support you fully in your wishes to appoint and co-ordinate with the appropriate minister at the crematorium, church, temple, hall or mosque. With many people no longer affiliated to a particular religion, there is a growing emphasis on individual funerals that reflect the life, character, values and specific beliefs of the person who has died.
Coffins, urns & hearses

You can choose a coffin, urn, hearse and flowers that suits the style of the funeral and character of the person. Browse through the following sections and/or call us on 01803 840779 to talk through your choices or if you want advice or guidance. We source all of these from external suppliers, so that we can offer you as broad a range as possible and so we have no vested interest in which you choose.
