When starting your driving lessons, one of the first choices you will have to make is whether you want to drive a manual or an automatic car. Both types of vehicles have their advantages, however, it will usually come down to personal preference as to which one you go for. Here we take a look at some of the benefits of driving an automatic car and how these will transfer across to your driving lessons.
Getting Started

To begin learning to drive you need to be at least 17 and hold a valid UK provisional licence. You can apply for your provisional licence up to 3 months before your 17th birthday. Applications can be made online or by picking up form D1 from your local Post Office. You'll also need to be able to read a number plate from a distance of about 20 metres, you should wear your glasses or contact lenses if you use them.
