About Us

Jack was brought up on Aswanley where, as a child he helped his father with their flock of 800 sheep and 250 head of beef cattle, driving machinery at any opportunity. A natural mechanic, he took an Engineering and Business degree at Oxford Brookes University and went on to work for rally teams including Prodrive and Tuthills Porsche before recently taking over the reins at Aswanley.
History
Report
If your surname is Gordon you will almost certainly be descended from Jock or Tam Gordon, sons of Sir John Gordon (d.1394) by Elizabeth Cruickshank of Aswanley. Around 1640, Aswanley was 'modernised' into an L shaped, 2 storey and garret, 2 spiral stair tower house. Lawlessness meant protection was necessary, shot holes, window bars, a well within a high courtyard and a strong arched gateway.

The Ceremony
Report
Although this is probably not what you initially planned, small weddings can be beautiful. We have worked hard to put all the extra measures in place to keep guests safe whilst retaining the unique ambience and aesthetic of Aswanley. We can host micro wedding ceremonies in the Fireplace room for 20 guests or in the Ballroom for more guests if restrictions allow.
