The beautiful Bute Court, now renamed the Marquis Hotel, was built for the 3rd Marquis of Bute as a summer residence in the 19th century. Still having many of the original features it was converted to a fine hotel around 1920 which includes superb sea views. The original brochure for the hotel states that "all rooms are lit by electricity" but "visitors using bedrooms as sitting rooms will be charged 2/- extra per week for light".

All of our bedrooms have all the amenities you require including tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers, flat screen TV's and Wi-Fi. All rooms are also equipped with refurbished en-suite bathroom or shower rooms. A choice of Standard, Garden View or Sea Facing accommodation available in either single, double, twin or family rooms.

Excellent stay, the recent renovations (touch more to do yet), are based on quality especially the en-suite facilities. Torquay hotels need such bringing in to the 21st century. Staff were customer friendly as was the price, room etc.spotless and breakfast excellent.
