Cass Hayward

Cass Hayward comprises a team of engineers and technicians dedicated solely to the design and construction of bridges. The extensive experience of our Principals and senior staff is complemented by the flair and enthusiasm of graduates and other trainees. We attract commissions for the production of practical and efficient designs as well as for feasibility studies and advanced analytical studies.

We quickly developed through the 1980's with a team attracted largely from fabricators and contractors and gained advantage from our early intimate knowledge of, the then new, BS5400 limit state Code of Practice for Design of Bridges.

Our team grew, retaining popularity with Contractor Clients for competitive and temporary works design, and our prominence then attracted commissions from public sector Clients including Highways Agency, British Rail and Local Authorities.

Our team has been strong and stable over four decades and always more than 25 strong such that we are able to deliver designs for major bridges typically up to 60m in value. More than a third of our current staff have over 30 years' service. Our Principals are Partners, Associates and Consultants who are supported by engineers and technicians and the administration group.

As bridge design specialists we can fulfil valuable roles throughout the complete life of a project - from inception to hand back. We are regularly engaged at a variety of different stages to meet our Clients' particular demands for our skills and capabilities and often starts when the viability of a bridge project is being tested and carries on through the delivery period when we assist constructors realizing our designs.

We are based in the market town of Chepstow, located within the picturesque Wye Valley - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It marks the southern starting point of the much cycled and trekked Offa's Dyke path which has historically acted as the dividing line between Wales and England. Chepstow has good motorway and railway links and is a convenient distance from the cities of Bristol and Cardiff.
