George qualified from Bristol University in 1982 and has continued to work in mixed practice ever since. He started the practice in 1993 as a one man surgery in the centre of Northiam and it has steadily grown into its current four vet team on the rye side of the village. He still has a keen interest in large animal work but now also enjoys his small animal surgery especially repairing fractures and torn cruciate liagments.
In his spare time George enjoys a host of hair raising activities such as skiing, mountain biking and rock climbing. Henry joined Badgers Oak in Summer 2019 after spending many of his student placements with us. Charley qualified from Cambridge University in 2009 and quickly started work at Badgers Oak.

Services
Small Animals
Report
Routine and emergency operations are carried out daily and we have a number of recovery units including large walk in dog kennels for inpatients. Weight clinics are also available from our nursing staff and have been very successful in encouraging pets to drop those extra pounds! Puppy parties are held weekly and are an excellent way to socialise your puppy and learn more about dog training.
Vaccinations
Report
We recommend that all dogs, cats and rabbits be vaccinated throughout their life. Vaccination hugely reduces the chance of disease and if disease does arise it decreases the severity of clinical signs. It also allows the vet to give your pet a full health check and alert you to any health issues. We recommend all cats are vaccinated against feline flu and enteritis and also feline leukaemia virus.
Neutering
Report
Female - Removing the uterus and ovaries (spaying) is best performed either from 6 months before seasons have started, or between seasons (3 months after the last season). It prevents pyometra. This is a uterine infection and can be life threatening. Spaying also hugely reduces the chances of mammary cancer; there is a 75% decrease in risk if she is spayed before her second season.
Parasite Advice
Report
External and internal parasite control is extremely important in cats and dogs. This is due to the fact that they can cause clinical disease in animals and humans. All puppies and kittens should be assumed to be affected by worms from birth as they can become so in utero and via the mother's milk. This can then continue on through life with eggs ingested from the environment and external hosts.
Microchips
Report
These chips are tiny and are usually placed between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck for ease of reading. Once they are chipped, if your pet is lost or injured and subsequently found they can be quickly and easily scanned using a hand held device and returned to you. For this reason it is very important to keep the details associated with your pet's microchip up to date.
