New Family Member
Report
The arrival of your new pet is an exciting time but there is so much to think about during those first few weeks it can often be a little overwhelming. Here's how we can help. Vaccinating your pet is a key step in protecting your pet against life threatening diseases. The diseases it aims to protect your pet against are still seen and thus still pose a constant danger to any unvaccinated animal.
Microchipping
Report
Microchipping has become a routine procedure these days and is often carried out at the time of vaccination, but can be done at any time or age. A tiny chip (approximately the size of a grain of rice) is injected under the skin where it will remain and act as a 'barcode' for your pet's identity.
In the unfortunate event of your pet getting lost or stolen, or if they end up in a rescue shelter or a vet practice, they will be scanned with a microchip reader which will enable the organisation to identify you as their owner and reunite you with your pet.Your pet's microchip will be registered on a nationwide database allowing them to be reunited with you from anywhere in the country.

Adolescent & Weight
Report
As our pets, especially dogs, reach adolescence their requirements change. Their behaviour, exercise needs, diet and dental requirements, all change. This free clinic is designed to troubleshoot any potential problems and provide an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have. This is a free 'preventative' healthcare clinic for cats and dogs over the age of 8 years.
Neutering
Report
Cats can be spayed from four months of age - prior to spaying your cat should have a health check with the vet to ensure she is healthy and they are happy for the procedure to go ahead. There is no benefit to your cat of having a litter before she is spayed. Makes him less likely to fight with other cats and therefore reduces his chance of getting feline AIDs (FIV) which is spread by bites.
Diagnostics
Report
At Rutland Veterinary Centre we have a very well-equipped in-house laboratory, which enables us to provide same-day results of tests, so that diagnoses can be made for your pets quickly and efficiently. The range of in-house diagnostics tests include those for assessing blood and urine and for identifying hormone imbalances and skin infections.
