We are based at Moorhouse Equestrian Centre, just off the Wakefield (A638) Rd on the outskirts of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Plenty of parking available. We specialise only in the veterinary care of horses, so you can feel confident that you will be seen by a 'horse vet' who has a personal interest in the veterinary care of horses at all times.
We are small enough to offer you a personal and professional approach but big enough to provide a high level of service and 24 hour emergency cover to our registered clients. Use our top tips to ensure you collect an accurate FWEC sample from your horse in order to get an accurate result. We operate a zone visit scheme where we work in your area on the same day each week and offer a reduced visit fee.

About Us
Report
We are an equine only practice based at Moorhouse Equestrian Centre, just off the Wakefield (A638) Rd on the outskirts of Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The Equine Veterinary Practice was founded in 1999, by Mr Richard Coppack, who had been in mixed practice in the area for the previous 15 years, whose specialist interest had always lain with horses.
Meet the Team
Report
Damien graduated from University of Melbourne, Australia in 1999. He worked for 4 years in mixed/equine practice in Australia before heading off to travel the world as many Australian vets do. Over the next three years he worked as a locum equine vet in various parts of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, before settling down with a lovely girl from Yorkshire.
Zone Day Maps
Report
We operate a zone visit scheme where we work in your area on the same day each week and offer a reduced visit fee. If we see 4 or more horses the visit fee will be free of charge. Zone visits are on a set day and for appointments between 9.00am- 5.00pm with a pre-determined veterinary surgeon. If you require a different vet or a later visit then our standard visit fee applies.
Equipment
Report
Radiographs, also known as x-rays, are particularly useful for imaging bones but can also give us some information about soft tissues. They are most useful for diagnosing fractures, bone infections and tumours, joint diseases such as arthritis and other conditions such as navicular disease and laminitis.
Information Sheets
Report
Mares are 'long day breeders' meaning that they usually breed during late spring, summer and early autumn. Mares are also termed seasonally polyoestrous breeders, that means they cycle (have oestrous cycles) many (poly) times per year but only during the breeding season (seasonally). A mare's cycle (oestrous cycle) lasts between 21-23 days.
