The Crooked Billet is situated halfway along Sheepridge Lane (a turning off the A4155 at Little Marlow). It was originally built in the 16th century as two cottages, then changed in 1850 to a simple Cider house. Amongst the many folk who used this old house was one Edgar Wallace, the mystery writer who is buried in the local cemetery.

Other folk who dealt in crime were not so lucky. A highwayman who terrorised the area was hanged from a nearby oak tree - and event which he was not happy about. His ghost is reputed to walk about from time to time. Thoughts of ghosts soon vanish in the pleasant bar with its old ships beams and pretty brick fireplaces, where local farmers, residents of the small Hamlet, businessmen and surrounding villagers make up the customers.

The Bar is well worn and atmospheric, while the eating area is simply furnished with dark wooden furniture and creamy walls. Crooked Billet has a wide selection of food on offer - from bar bites to main meals, hot and cold, all freshly made to order from Billet style sandwiches, homemade soups, ploughman's and our legendary Chilli Con Carne.
