Luxury Boutique Hotel in the Cotswolds
Nestled in the heart of Painswick, the 'Queen of the Cotswolds', The Painswick offers a luxurious 18th-century Palladian retreat blending historic charm with modern comforts. Since our acquisition in 2015, we have meticulously restored this architectural gem to provide guests with an authentic countryside experience. Our seventeen individually designed bedrooms, featuring valley views and bespoke furnishings, reflect our commitment to creating spaces where comfort and elegance coexist. The hotel's culinary offerings, led by award-winning chef Jamie McCallum, showcase seasonal local produce through innovative menus that have earned recognition as Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year 2023. We take pride in offering complimentary access to the historic Rococo Gardens, ensuring guests experience the region's natural beauty. Our dedicated team, including wedding planner Chelsea, specialises in creating bespoke events from intimate celebrations to grand weddings, supported by our 2023 TripAdvisor Travellers Choice award-winning service.

The Clutterbucks meeting room provides a sophisticated setting for business gatherings, combining Cotswold charm with modern amenities. Our commitment to excellence extends to curated local experiences, including guided walks with British Nordic Walking instructors and partnerships with nearby vineyards. The property's evolution from 18th-century Prospect House to contemporary luxury hotel reflects our dedication to preserving heritage while meeting modern expectations. We maintain rigorous quality standards across all operations, evidenced by our consistent guest satisfaction metrics and industry accolades. Our location midway along the Cotswold Way walking trail positions us as an ideal base for exploring the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Our second stay here at The Painswick, and once again they pull out all the stops. Staff are excellent - nothing too much trouble, and little details showing thoughtfulness and care make a big difference! Food as always was delicious. A real treat. Well be back!

We had some after noon tea here and it was lovely!! Best after noon tea so far for me and my wife. Their carrot cake was so good. They got bottomless hot drinks as well! The best thing was the view of the village from their garden! Great experience

Stayed at the Painswick 2 weeks ago and are at another hotel this weekend and genuinely do miss the Painswick. Every single staff member we encountered throughout our stay was fantastic, I have never experienced more attentive and friendly service anywhere else and could clearly see the hard work put on during a busy service by everyone. Can not fault, fantastic room, place and staff
Look forward to coming back

We only had dinner here but were very impressed, and we've been to a good number of high end establishments. Friendly & attentive service, beautifully presented and delicious food, and a couple of wonderful cocktails to boot. Only downside for us was we didn't find it sooner so we could've experienced it more than once. If you're in the area, you must visit!

Excellent hotel at a reasonable price. I find it very hard to fault and thats the reason we return. Its a Goldilocks hotel. Not too big, not too small, not too stuffy, not too laid back. Its just right. Wonderful location, great staff and lots to do including beautiful walks. Finally, it has an awesome cocktail bar! An ideal weekend away.
