Services
About Us
Report
Banks Opticians has been offering an excellent quality professional eyecare service for nearly 40 years. David Banks opened his first practice in 1973 in Acocks Green. This practice still successfully operates today alongside the practice in Sparkhill.

David's children, Sarah and Paul, joined the business in 2004 and 1998 respectively, and in partnership together they strive to manage and run the practices to maintain the high standards of care they feel their patients deserve.David, Sarah and Paul are all in attendance between the three practices today, together, with an attentive and friendly team.
Eye Examinations
Report
We tailor every eye examination for a patient's individual needs. An eye examination is necessary should you have concerns about your vision or a problem with the health of your eyes or simply a routine visit to ensure good ocular health and vision. Our Optometrists will listen carefully to concerns you may express and be happy to answer questions you may have.
Childrens Eye Examinations
Report
At Banks Opticians we believe it is vital to have a child's eyes examined before they begin school life. We can effectively examine children from approximately 2 and a half to 3 years of age. We have a range of tests specifically designed for children that make the experience fun and examine particularly for hypermetropia (long-sightedness), squint, amblyopia (lazy eye), three-dimensional vision and colour vision.
Diabetic Retinopathy Screening
Report
People with diabetes are at risk of an eye disease known as diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy leads to changes at the retina, the back of the eye, which can cause partial or severe loss of vision if left untreated. Occasionally, despite good vision, you may have diabetic retinopathy and be unaware of it.
Digital Retinal Photography
Report
We have recently installed new Digital retinal cameras at our Acocks Green and Sparkhill branch. This enables us to take a photograph of the back of your eye, allowing us to assess and monitor the health of your eyes more accurately. You can see what we see; increasing your understanding of conditions we may need to explain.
