These guys are simply the BEST! Pony been very sick over the last 5 months & Jess, Emma & the girls in the office have been amazing! Cannot recommend them highly enough. Pony on the mend now thanks to their dedication & hard work - Mike Daly & Dave Chalkley - you have the most amazing vets on your team!

I have experienced vets from many practices over the years and I have found the vets at Woodlands (now Cheltenham Equine Vets) to be the most thorough, dedicated, conscientious and friendly team that I have come across in my 50 years of owning horses. I have had my horses with the practice for 15 years and I look forward to more of the same.

About Us
Report
Cheltenham Equine Vets was created following the merger of 2 longstanding and successful equine practices, Woodlands Equine Vets and Dragon Equine Vets. We now have a team with specialist equine knowledge and commitment. Our vets spend their days on the road, visiting clients on yards across Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire.
Obituary

In loving memory. John Charles Codner was born in Clevedon on 19/08/1948. He was educated at Bristol Cathedral School and at the University of Liverpool where he graduated with a BVSc in 1971. John spent his first year in practice in Devon, where he developed his skills as a large animal vet.

He settled in Cheltenham in 1972 where he joined the practice, Hull and Eaton, which later became Dragon vets now based on Cheltenham racecourse due to the inspired vision of John and his veterinary partner David Chalkley.John will be remembered as a passionate, accomplished farm animal and equine vet, where his motivation was always directed toward the welfare of the patient and a positive outcome for the client.
Emergencies

We have also been doing video consults in order to try and minimise the need for a visit if possible. This has been working really well as long as you have 4g and 2 or more bars of mobile reception (or wi-fi). It enables us to direct you with your mobile to what we want to see real time, so it is more valuable to us than looking at photos or videos that you might take and send in.
Vaccinations
Report
We pride ourselves in taking the opportunity at every vaccination to get to know you and your horse, pony or donkey and give you a chance to discuss any concerns you might have. We also aim to provide an MOT to include listening to the heart and lungs and examining the eyes. Equine Influenza is a virus that can travel long distances through the air making it highly contagious.
Dentistry
Report
As equine vets we fully understand the importance of regular meticulous dental care. Our service ranges from providing routine rasping every 6-12 months to more complicated and specialized procedures such as reduction of hooks (also called overgrowths) and widening, flushing and packing of gaps (diastema) that accumulate food material and lead to gum disease and dental decay.
