Sursham Tompkins & Partners
Sursham Tompkins were formed in 1961, making us one of the longest established practices in the County. The photograph pictured is of the founding members, Harry Sursham and Keith Tompkins, at a charity ball in the early years. The opportunity arose in 2004 to expand the practice and relocate from Wellingborough Town Centre to our current studio at Sywell, within a converted barn complex.

The current practice directors Graham Larkins and Mark Croxen are both members of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists, employing qualified architectural staff with differing backgrounds and experience, giving the practice a full skill set. As a practice we have been fortunate to work with a number of high profile clients on exciting and challenging projections, in locations as diverse as Jersey and the Isle of Man.
Services
Lead Consultant
Report
Our practice experience enables us to perform the role of Lead Consultant on projects particularly where various disciplines are necessary to be integrated and coordinated during the design process. This includes for example, arranging fee quotations from other consultants, heading Design Team meetings, workshops for in depth analysis etc.
Design Concepts
Report
We can encourage clients to achieve their project expectations with a holistic approach to the fundamentals of the design. This can take the form of understanding the location and built form of the environment in which the project is based or the setting of the project with its immediate neighbours.
Master Planning
Report
We have experience of spatial layouts to structure land use for development potential. This can include relationships between buildings and public spaces, movement patterns and linkage via streets, heights, bulk and massing of buildings to give a clear vision to inspire the community that it would serve.
Planning
Report
The Planning process requires careful consideration at the feasibility stage to ensure that Local Authority and National Policies and constraints are fully researched before preparing scheme designs.

On more complex schemes or sensitive sites, we would advise pre-application advice is sought from the Local Authority, including liaison with interested parties such as Highways Authorities, Environmental Health, Historic England etc. to address any potential problems.
3D Visualisation
Report
An integral part of our design process is to generate 3D imagery to enable us to model and shape the proposals together with dressing the building with materials and colours to accentuate the form and massing of the proposal. Clients can see in the initial design process a visualisation of the massing and form which provides a valuable insight to inform opinions at an early stage of the project.
