Cawte & Elms was established in the early 1970's by Brian Cawte. Cawte and Elms Motor Engineers operated from the Cambridge Road site in Gosport. In the late 1970's the business underwent expansion and was one of the first independent garages in southern Hampshire to obtain a license to carry out MOT testing by the Department of Transport.

The depot is currently managed by Mathew Wright who has been working at GTE for some time now. Having spent all his working life in the Motor repair business. We know Mathew and his team always strive to get it right for the customer, whilst ensuring they understand the customers requirements, working within their budgets and timescales.

We were established in Gosport in 1989, as an offshoot of Cawte and Elms, a local business with a good reputation. In 2005 we became the Cawteco Motoring Group, who are a small chain of motoring oulets based in the Solent area. Our incorporation into Cawteco added numerous benefits, including more in depth knowledge of the repair trade as a whole, which also increased our overall capabilites and offerings to the customer.
