We are family solicitors based in Southampton, assisting in specialised areas of family law. Our family law solicitors are able to talk through with you the best approach to dealing with your separation, ensuring that the best interests of any children involved are the priority. The Court option is rarely the best way of resolving family matters and there are many dispute resolution options to be considered which do not involve the Court process.

At Sousa Law we actively encourage divorcing or separating couples to agree financial matters sensibly and amicably whether directly, through some other form. If you agree financial matters upon divorce a consent order can be drafted by us incorporating the terms of the agreement. There may be some financial issues which you have not considered if you have come to direct agreement such as pension assets or maintenance payments for example.
Mediation

Our mediation services are offered in person and also online via Zoom. Our online mediation services provide an efficient and cost effective way of resolving family disputes. The use of virtual breakout rooms is helpful to give clients some time out when needed and also works well for shuttle mediation so that the individuals do not need to have direct contact, nor see each other, should that prove to be too distressing.
Arbitration
Report
Arbitration is a process similar to a private court process in a setting of your choice. You and you partner will need to agree to use the process and sign and ARB1 and you will need to appoint an arbitrator. Your lawyer can help you with this process. The arbitrator will make a decision that will be final and binding in relation to any issues regarding financial matters or children matters.
